FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What does complying with the Togolese personal data law involve?
Togolese Law No. 2019-014 of 29 October 2019 governs the collection and processing of personal data. Any organisation processing such data (customers, employees, service users, etc.) must meet a set of obligations: a lawful basis for processing, informing data subjects, data security, and a record of processing activities. AMELEGAL supports you at every stage of this compliance work.
What is an external data protection officer?
The data protection officer is established by Togolese Law No. 2019-014 of 29 October 2019 on the protection of personal data (articles 75 et seq.), which sets out the role, its duties and how the officer is appointed. Appointed by the controller, the officer independently oversees compliance with the law within the organisation: mapping and documenting processing activities, advising, raising staff awareness, and acting as the main point of contact for the IPDCP (the Personal Data Protection Authority). AMELEGAL performs this role as an external data protection officer : your organisation gains dedicated expertise, kept current with the requirements of Law No. 2019-014, without bearing the cost of a full-time post.
Who are your services for?
Businesses of every size, public bodies (the State, local authorities, international organisations, etc.), startups and not-for-profit entities. Each engagement is tailored to the size, sector and digital maturity of your organisation.
Do you work outside Togo?
Yes. Based in Lomé, AMELEGAL is an international firm that brings its expertise across the African continent, with a clear ambition in the West African sub-region. If your projects extend beyond Togo, our ambition follows you.
How do I get a quote?
